Dr.' Kathrin Brandt

Kathrin Brandt is currently the head coordinator of the language laboratory at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and a research assistant at the Chair of Applied Linguistics and Multilingualism at the English Department I. After studying English and German as a teacher, she decided to pursue a PhD in English Linguistics and wrote her doctoral thesis on Louisiana Creole. Her dissertation examines sociolinguistic and structural aspects of this French-based creole language spoken in the southern United States, with a focus on the syntactic effects of language endangerment. She is currently working with Friederike Schoppa on language awareness among students who wish to study abroad and the realities of English-language university teaching.
