Language learning materials

The language laboratory has a wide range of language learning materials which are available to all students of the University of Cologne during opening hours, even without borrowing.

Learning materials are available for the following languages:

Afrikaans, Arabic, Brazilian-Portuguese, Catalan, Chinese, Danish, German (also German as a foreign language), English, Filipino, Finnish, French, Greek, Indonesian, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Orean, Croatian, Latin, Dutch, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese (also Brazilian), Romanian, Russian, Swedish, Serbian, Somali, Spanish, Thai, Czech, Turkish, Ukrainian, Hungarian

Research

You can search for titles within our collection. Simply click on this link. Now you can enter your search term (e.g. a language of your choice) in the search mask and start the search. If you now click on the title of a medium, you will not only receive further details on the medium, but also information on the type of media. The Sprachlabor currently offers books, CDs and audio cassettes as well as VHS cassettes. The language laboratory also has 3 external CD drives which can be borrowed together with the CDs. 
Make a note of the shelfmark (Signatur) under which the medium is filed.

Lending

The books can be lend during opening hours for a maximum period of 2 weeks. If the media are not requested by another student, the loan period can be extended if necessary. Please register in advance by email (Sprachlabor@uni-koeln.de).

A valid student ID and a personal e-mail address are all you need to register once. The number of media that can be borrowed at the same time is unlimited.
